About Nako

Our Story

Nako was born in 2020 — in a year when the whole world slowed down, but the water never stopped calling.

Our founding team brings over a decade of competitive bass fishing experience and deep expertise in tackle supply chains. When the pandemic pushed people outdoors, we saw an opportunity to solve a problem we'd lived with for years: premium tungsten tackle was priced out of reach for most anglers. Tournament pros swore by tungsten for its unmatched sensitivity and compact profile, but everyday fishermen were stuck with lead — heavier, bulkier, and increasingly restricted.

We started Nako with a simple belief: every angler who loves the sport deserves access to the best gear, not just the ones who can afford $15 for a pack of weights. By building direct relationships with manufacturers and controlling our own supply chain, we brought tungsten to market at prices that competitors still can't match.

Designed on the Water, Not Behind a Desk

What makes Nako different isn't just price — it's how we build our products.

Our product designers are on the water every single day. We fish the same rigs, work the same cover, and face the same conditions as our customers. That daily experience shapes every decision we make — from the shape of our flipping weights to the wire gauge on our jig heads to the skirt colors we offer.

When we say a product is "200% Sensitive," that's not marketing copy. It's the result of hundreds of hours of side-by-side testing against lead and competitor tungsten, on real fish, in real conditions. We don't release a product until our team has fished it and trusts it.

Leading the Shift from Lead to Tungsten

Tungsten isn't just a better material for fishing — it's the responsible choice.

Multiple U.S. states have already banned or restricted lead fishing tackle due to its toxic effects on waterways and wildlife. More legislation is on the way. Nako is proud to be at the forefront of this transition, making it easy and affordable for anglers to switch to tungsten without sacrificing performance or breaking the bank.

We believe in the long game: protecting the lakes, rivers, and ecosystems that make this sport possible. Sustainable fishing isn't a buzzword for us — it's why we exist.
